Leftist opposition party wins Slovak elections
BRATISLAVA, June 18 (Reuters) Slovakia's leftist Smer opposition party won parliamentary elections but fell short of an outright majority, full preliminary results showed today.
Smer secured 29.14 percent of the votes in Saturday's elections, while Prime Minister Mikulas Dzurinda's party was second with 18.35 percent.
The results meant both Smer and Dzurinda will need to woo partners to secure a majority in the 150-seat parliament and weeks of horse-trading may be needed to cobble together a government.
