Kamal Nath and Ratan Tata to address US-India Summit

New Delhi, June 18 (UNI) Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath will address the US-India Business Council 31st Anniversary Leadership Summit on June 22.

The summit on 'Implementing the US-India Strategic Partnership' will also seek partcipation from Chairman Tata Sons Ratan Tata, Biocon Ltd Chairman and Managing Director Dr Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and CII chief Tarun Das.

A-high-profile Indian officials team lead by Mr Nath including Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Minister of Science and Technology Kapil Sibal, Knowledge Commission Chairman Sam Pitroda and Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Director General R A Mashelar is currently visiting the US to highlight the global reach of India and India Inc.

Mr Nath will also inaugurate the Indian Business Forum in New York city on June 23. The forum organised to share information on the activities of Indian companies in the US and to gather information on the issues and concerns faced by the indian Industry members in the US, will be chaired by Tata Group Chief Representative (North America) David Good.

On the same day, an exclusive luncheon session with prominent individuals in honour of the Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry in New York.

Also at the meeting will be two former United States Trade Representatives- Ambassador Carla Hills and Ambassador Charlene Barshefsky. The meeting will discuss ways and means to strengthen US India economic cooperation.

A special session with Mr Nath with prominent Indian Americans in New York will also be organised.

The ongoing '9 Days of India in the US' programme, organised by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), started on June 15 and aims at doubling goods and services trade between the US and India from 40 billion dollars to 80 billion dollars over the next three years, enhance Indian investment in the US, connect Indian Americans to India's development needs, update US government and Industry on India's economic performance and promote an overall understanding of the country in the global community.
