Italians recall defender Zambrotta
KAISERSLAUTERN, June 17 (Reuters) Italy coach Marcello Lippi brought in fit-again defender Gianluca Zambrotta in place of Fabio Grosso for today's World Cup Group E match with the United States.
Zambrotta, who has had a thigh injury, missed the 2-0 win over Ghana on Monday and two previous warm-up matches but he was back in full training this week.
US coach Bruce Arena made two changes from the side which lost 3-0 to the Czech Republic with Carlos Bocanegra replacing Eddie Lewis at left back and Clint Dempsey slotting in for DaMarcus Beasley on the right side of midfield.
''We wanted a little more of an offensive team at the same time we needed to add a true defender (to the side),'' said Arena.
