Inter-state gang busted, heroin worth one crore seized

Varanasi, June 18 (UNI) The district police claimed to have busted an inter-state drug smuggling gang with the arrest of four persons, including two brothers, along with heroin worth Rs one crore from the Cantonment area here this evening.

Police said here that Pappu, Altaf alias Babu -- both brothers and belonging to Bajardiha area of the city, besides Tahir Jamal and Jamal Akhtar were arrested in the Police Line area and one kg heroin worth Rs one crore in international market seized from them.

On interrogation, they to bringing the narcotics consignment from Bihar to Pukki Bazar area here through the neighbouring Chandauli district.

Further investigations were on, police added.
