Four Cong candidates elected unopposed
Pondicherry,June 18(UNI)Four candidates of the Indian National Congress who contested for the Ozhukarai muncipal councillors posts in the civic pollls in the union territory, were elected unopposed.
District collector and district election officer Thevaneethi Das in a release here today said K.Ramachandran (Thattanchavady) P.
Chitra (D.Nagar),M.Gopalakrishnan(Meenakshipet) and S B Damodaran (Dharmapuri) were elected unopposed.
Meanwhile,seven persons filed their nomination papers for the post of Ozhukarai municipal chairman and three for Pondicherry municipal chairman post when filing of nominations came to a close yesterday.
As many as 240 persons had filed their papers for the post of Pondicherry muncipal concillors and 183 for Ozhukarai municipal councillor posts.Ninty nine persons have filed nominations for the post of Villianur commune panchayat councillor,80 for Villainaur village panchayat president and 535 for the post of village pacnhayat ward members.
Pondicherry and Ozhukarai municipalities and Villianur commune panchayat for which filing of nominations came to a close yesterday, will go to polls in the secoind phase on June 27.
As many as 271 persons have filed their papers for the post of commune panchayat councillors of Bashour,Mannadipet,Nettapakkam and Ariyanakuppam,255 for the post of village panchayat presidents and 1453 for the post of Village panchayat ward members for the four commune panchayats till yesterday.
Bahour,Ariyankauppam,Mannadipet and Nettapakkam commune panchayats will go to polls in the final phase on July one. The filing of nominations will end on June 21.
