FILCA International film fest from Jun 23
Thiruvananthapuram, June 18 (UNI) Film Lovers Cultural Association (FILCA), a cultural organisation in the city, will be holding its sixth International Film Festival here from June 23 to 29, its General Secretary M K P Nair has said.
More than 30 films of prominent international film makers will be shown during the seven-day festival conducted in association with Alliance Francaise, Embassy of France, Culture Department, Chalachitra Academy, National Film Archive of India and Federation of Film Societies of India, he said at a news conference yesterday.
A retrospective of the internationally acclaimed Italian film maker Pasolni would be the highlight of the festival. His famous films like ''the Gospal Accoring to St Mathew, Theorem, Decameron, The Canterbury Tales, 'the Arabian Nights' and 'Salo-120' days of Sodom would be screened, he said.
Country Focus-France would be the other feature of the festival and Strayed, Save Me, The Colours of Life, The King's daughters and the reply will also be screened, Mr Nair said.
The Malayalam cinema section will feature Achanurangatha Veedu, Chandranilekkoru Vazhi and Oral and in the Malayalam New Wave section films like Athidhi, Swayamvaram and Pokkuveyil would be screened.
Award winning films like Iqbal, Nisshabd, Page 3, 15 Park Avenue have been included in the contemporary Indian cinema and Oscar winning movies like Capote, Cagtwoman, Memories of Geisha, Walk the Line and Cold Mountain have been included in the world cinema today package.
A seminar on New Wave and open discussions on all days would also be organised during the festival, he added.
