Doctors demand removal of Venugopal

Chennai, June 18 (UNI) Doctors' Association for Social Equality (DASE) today demanded sacking of AIIMS Director P Venugopal alongwith some other senior doctors over the present AIIMS imbroglio.

Talking to newspersons here, DASE General Secretary G R Ravindrananth condemned the signature campaign conducted for removal of Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss from the president's post of the AIIMS.

''The AIIMS Director, Superintendent and some faculty members of the institution had instigated the anti-reservation protests. They should be terminated immediately,'' he alleged.

On the demand made by some Left organisations to exclude the creamy layer from the 27 per cent reservation and consider economic status as a criteria, Mr Ravindranath said the DASE had requested the organisations to avoid such a demand as it could strengthen the anti-reservation groups and delay implementation of the reservations.
