Differences with Left will be sorted out soon: Antony

Bangalore, June 18 (UNI) Asserting that there was no threat to the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre, AICC General Secretary A K Antony today said the differences among the coalition partners on the recent rise in oil prices will be sorted out soon.

''I don't expect any danger to the UPA Government. This Government came to power to keep away the communal BJP from power.

We are not one party. Differences exist even in single party rule and it is not new when several parties have joined hands,'' he told newspersons here, in response to a query about the threat by Left parties to withdraw support to the Government on the issue.

Mr Antony said the Congress was not in a hurry to come back to power in Karnataka.

''We sit and work as true Opposition. Let them run the Government...we are not in a hurry,'' he said.

When asked whether he foresaw mid-term polls in the State, he said there was no immediate indication to that effect. At the same time, the party was ready to face any eventuality. He exuded confidence that the party would win elections in Karnataka, a Congress stronghold, whenever they were held.

Parrying queries about former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's entry into Congress, he said ''I've just come. Let me discuss the issue with my colleagues.'' Ruling out changing the Leaders of the Opposition in both the Houses of the State Legislature, he said he was on a three-day visit to the state with a two-point mission to assess the political situation and to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
