Congress wins 102 MPTC seats unanimously

Hyderabad, June 18 (UNI) The Congress unanimously won 102 of the 120 MPTC seats for the local body elections in Andhra Pradesh.

Elections to the 16,188 MPTC seats will be held in two phases on June 28 and July two.

The Congress got the maximum number of unanimously elected seats, while TDP won 14 seats and CPI(M) won one seat.

In Kadapa, the native district of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, elections were unanimous for 34 constituencies and all went in favour of the Congress.

In Kurnool district also the election was unanimous for 31 MPTC seats, Congress snatched 24 while TDP got seven.

In the Guntur district, the native district of TDP strongman Dr Kodela Shiva Prasada Rao, out of 29 seats. The Congress unanimously bagged 28 seats leaving the TDP only one seat.

In Anantapur, of the six MPTC seats where election was unanimous, Congress bagged four while the TDP got two.
