Army offers aids to molestation victims in Mizoram

Aizawl, June 18: The Army authorities here have expressed willingness to give necessary aids to the two girls who had been allegedly molested by an army jawan near Army Medical Corps camp at Thuampui locality here recently.

Apart from giving them necessary medication immediately by two lady doctors at the Army camp's MI room, the Army has assured the two girls of further help which include education upto 12th standard, computer training, tailoring courses, knitting/weaving courses, typing attendant or ECHS female attendant (available for only one).

The girls have been told to select their choice in the above mentioned offers.

The Army source said the report of inquiry has been sent to the army commander in Leimakhong, Manipur. It assured the public that the punishment to be given to the culprit who 'troubled' the two girls would be of the 'severest nature'.

The Bawngkawn police, as well as the Aizawl DC, had conducted separate inquiries into the incident of which the reports are yet to be completed.
