10 killed in UP accidents
Lucknow, June 18 (UNI) At least 10 people were killed and 16 others injured in separate accidents in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours.
A report from Bulandshahr district said four people lost their lives in road accidents today. Two men died and 12 other sustained injuries when a private bus overturned near Saidpur.
In another incident, a motorcyclist was killed and the pillion rider was injured when a truck hit them near Khurja. Another youth was killed, when his motorcycle hit a road divider in the district.
A woman was buried alive and three others were injured when a mound collapsed in Kulpahad area of Mahoba district today.
Police said some women were digging soil in Mudhari village for plastering their 'kuccha' houses, when a mound suddently caved-in.
By the time villagers came to their rescue, Chandrabai had died.
Meanwhile, a labourer died after being hit by a boulder at a granite mining field in Karbai area of Mahoba.
Police said an explosion was carried out by the contractor to extract granite, following which a boulder broke off the hill and hit Motilal. He died on the spot.
In Sultanpur, three people including a father-son pair were killed in separate road accidents today.
According to police Santram (35) and his son Ranjit Kumar (12) of village Rainapur were going to Sultanpur town in search of work this morning.
They were run over by a truck on Allahabad-Faizabad highway. The truck driver fled the scene leaving his vehicle behind.
In another incident, an unidentified man was hit by a speeding truck in Kotwali area, killing him on the spot.
A report from Jaunpur today said a kshetra panchayat member was electrocuted in Barsathi area here late last night.
Police today said Triloki Nath Dubey (32) of Chandrabhanpur village was repairing an electrical fault, when he unwittingly came in contact with a 11,000 volts power cable.
