Wipro derives 5 pc revenue through innovation

Bangalore June 17 (UNI) Innovation projects contribute to nearly five per cent of the total revenue of Wipro, Company Chief Operating Officer A L Rao said today.

Addressing the CII Innovation Summit-2006 here, he said innovation had been the main driving factor behind the company's growth with as many as 500 people working in about 50 innovation projects across all business units.

He said innovation was an integral part of the company with every employee playing a major role. The company followed bottom-up approach to build the innovation process, which consisted of innovation projects, innovation champion, innovation council and IT management council.

Mr Rao said innovation encompassed four dimensions: Process, Technology, Delivery and Business. It required long-term commitment and highly talented resources, he added1.
