Villagers injured in militant attack get compensation

Jammu, June 17 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government disbursed Rs seven thousand each as compensation to seven villagers who were seriously injured in a militant attack in Udhampur recently.

An official spokesman said here today the amount was handed over by Deputy Commissioner Hirdesh Kumar to the injured at the Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) and SMGS hospital.

The spokesman said, an ex-gratia relief of Rs one lakh for the next of kin of a 65-year-old man who died in the attack was also sanctioned.

Suspected Lashker-e-Toiba militants had attacked Nihoch village in Gulabgarh area on the intervening night of June 14 and 15, killing a man and injuring 13 others. The militants had chopped off the noses and ears of two men.
