Two militants among three killed in north Kashmir
Baramulla, June 17 (UNI) Three persons, including two militants, were killed in north Kashmir overnight, official sources said. They said unidentified militants shot at and critically wounded a shop owner Bahasrat Ahmad Sheikh at Chenkipora, Sopore, in this district late last night.
Sources said he was admitted to hospital in Srinagar where he died early this morning.
Security forces and police on a tip off cordoned off village Zaloora Sopore late last night to nab militants hiding there.
However, when the security forces were about to storm a particular house, militants hiding inside, opened fire and also hurled hand grenades. The Security forces retaliated and in the night-long operation two militants were killed.
The house from where the militants were firing on security forces was also damaged in the encounter. However, resident alleged that security forces fired mortars to blast the house. Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
