Tesjaswini Ramesh threatened by partymen

Bangalore, June 17 (UNI) Congress MP Tejaswini Ramesh today lodged a complaint with the police, alleging that former party legislator C M Lingappa and his associates had threatened and attempted to assault her.

The incident happened during polling in the bienniel elections to the Karnataka Legislative Council from the Bangalore Graduates constituency today.

Police sources said Ms Ramesh lodged a complaint at the Ijoor police station that Lingappa and his associates threatened to kill her and used abusive language against her.

According to the complaint, Lingappa, who was camping near the polling station, during the election saw the Kanakapura Lok Sabha member arriving in a car and started abusing her for ''identifying more with the JD(S) functionaries in the constituency''.

A case has been registered in this connection, the police said.

Ms Ramesh shot into limelight when she won the 2004 Lok Sabha elections from Kanakapura constituency, defeating former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda.
