Sri Lanka says Tigers attack northwest police post
COLOMBO, June 17 (Reuters) Sri Lanka's Tamil Tiger rebels attacked a police post in the northwest Mannar district by land and sea today, a defence spokesman said today.
while there were reports of an explosion north of the capital.
''It is still going on,'' said the spokesman of the Mannar attack. There was no word on casualties, he said.
Reports of an explosion came from the town of Pamunugama along the shoreline north of Colombo near the resort town of Negombo, he said, although there were few details.
