SEC initiates revision of electoral roll in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, June 17 (UNI) The State Election Commission has initiated revision of the electoral roll for all the 182 Gujarat Legislative Assembly seats from June 15 to July 7 this year.

Joint Chief Election Officer Ashok Manek has asked the voters to ensure their names, address and other details are in order in the voters list available with the Collectors and district election officers and select post offices, besides the nearest polling booths.

The cut-off date for the revised electoral roll is June 1, 2006.

At present, there are 3,65,80,045 voters in the state, says a release issued here today.

The exercise has been undertaken as per the directive of the Election Commission of India.
