Ruling SP leader shot

Mainpuri, Jun 17 (UNI) A ruling Samajwadi Party leader was today grievously wounded when unidentified motorcycle-borne miscreants shot at him in Bichwa area here.

Police said SP district unit president Rajendra Prasad Gupta sustained bullet wounds in the attack and rushed to the district hospital. The assailants, however, managed to escape.

A manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits.

On June 15, SP youth wing Lohia Vahini district secretary Harshkant (30) was shot dead in broad daylight in Kanyanpur area of Kanpur district.

He was sitting at his shop when six unidentified misreants shot at him.

Harshkant was taken to hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.
