Raja Bhaiyya's father brought to Pratapgarh jail

Pratapgarh, June 17 (UNI) The father of Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya was today brought to the district jail here under tight security.

Uday Pratap Singh was sentenced to five yrs imprisonment and Rs 25,000 fine by a special POTA court of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

However, the court had exonerated Raja Bhaiyya -- UP food and civil supplies minister -- and his cousin and local Samajwadi Party MP Akshay Pratap Singh in the case.

During trial of the POTA case, Raja Bhaiyya was granted bail by the court, while his father remained lodged in the Jabalpur prison.

The previous UP government headed by Ms Mayawati had slapped POTA charges on the trio for possessing firearms illegally at their residence.

The Supreme Court had ordered the POTA case be heard at Jabalpur.
