Probe into attempt on Stalin's life begins
Madurai, June 17 (UNI) The Crime Branch-CID has taken up the investigation into the alleged attempt on the life of Tamil Nadu Local Administration Minister and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's son M K Stalin at the Railway junction here on June 13.
A special team headed by CB-CID DIG Gunaseelan began the probe today.
The Government Railway Police has formed eight teams to probe the incident. Tamil Nadu DGP Mr Mukherjee also visited Madurai and held discussions with the officials.
The investigtion was handed over to the CB-CID last night.
It may be recalled that an armed assailant made an abortive attempt on the life of Mr Stalin at the railway station here. He had a providential escape when a CRPF constable foiled the attempt by catching hold of the knife held by the assailant.
Constable Suresh Kumar sustained cut injuries and was treated at a private hospital.
After the incident, the security cover for Mr Stalin was scaled up to 'Z' category by the state government.
