Nepali Maoist nabbed in Junagadh

Junagadh, Gujarat, June 17 (UNI) The police have arrested a Nepali Maoist from a Hindu temple, located at College road area, here.

Junagadh District Superintendent of Police (DSP) B D Vaghela told UNI here today that one Yuvraj Jaiprasad Sharma (42) was arrested by special operation group (crime branch) Inspector H A Ahir yesterday.

Mr Vaghela said acting a tip-off, Inspector Ahir raided Sharma's house yesterday and arrested him under sections 171 and 484 of the IPC.

During interrogation, Yuvraj, who was working as priest in the temple, disclosed that he was an area Commander in Nepal and leading a group of 162 Moaists. He also confessed that he was involved in many Moaist separatist and militant activisties in Nepal against the goverment.

When the Nepali Army intensified the operation against the Moaists, Sharma sneaked into India via Jalpai Gudi and Kolkata seven years ago.

Before moving to Junagadh, Yuvraj had been acting as a priest in a temple in Surat and Khijda Temple in Jamnagar city, SP Vaghel said and added further investigations were on.
