NCP demand's rollback of petroleum hike
Shillong, Jun 17 (UNI) The Nationalist Congress Party in Meghalaya today asked the ruling Congress led UPA government to stick to its commitment to serve the people in their best interest.
"The UPA government which was elected on platform to serve the best interest of a common man should not forget its commitment," said the NCP Chief Whip of Rajya Sabha Robert Kharshiing, while demanding an immediate rollback of fuel price hike.
Mr Kharshiing, who was here to attend the NCP Meghalaya state executive committee meeting held here today, lamented that the sudden price hike in petroleum products have created an adverse impact on the rural masses in the country.
Meghalaya, which have no rail link and totally depends on to import food suppy by road transport, has been affected badly with sharp increase of price hike in food products, he said.
The NCP leader, a former member of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, said the committee has also decided to urged all MLAs irrespective of poltical affiliations to maintained political stability in the interest of the common man.
