Navy launches first job fair in Delhi for personnels
New Delhi, June 17: The Indian Navy has tied up with the country's fastest growing job portal TimesJobs.com to secure placements for naval personnel with Indian corporates.
The exclusive three-year contract in this regard will facilitate placements for all retiring/retired naval officers, retiring/retired sailors or Personnel Below Officer Rank (PBOR), and even widows of naval personnel in the civilian/corporate environment.
This association comprises two modules: -- Development of the web placement portal -- inpa.co.in -- for Indian Naval Placement Agency (INPA) where candidates with a Navy background can forward their resumes to prospective employers who can post job vacancies and also select the right candidates from the existing INPA database; and -- TimesJobs.com providing offline/on-ground assistance to prospective job seekers from the Navy by organising job fairs at various Naval Command locations facilitating the participation of large corporates and Small&Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as prospective employers.
In this connection, Timesjobs.com has organised a two-day 'First Job Marathon' for retiring Naval Personnel which began here today.
Commodore D Jena, Principal Director of the Indian Navy's Directorate of Ex-Servicemen Affairs (DESA), inaugurated the job-mela.
In a message on the occasion, Naval Chief Admiral Arun Prakash lauded the venture as one aiming to assist naval personnel in making a smooth transition into a second career. ''The requirement to maintain a younger age profile in the Armed Forces tends to truncate careers due to the pyramidical organisational structure of the Armed Forces... This compels many officers to leave in the prime years of their life to seek a 'second career','' he pointed out.
''Being relatively young and having been groomed over the years in a result-oriented culture, they acquire skills and expertise in various fields. This pool of trained and disciplined personnel would prove to be an asset to any industry/business house/ organisation....'' The 'First Job Marathon' will see a diverse range of corporates vying for the highly disciplined and skilled retiring Naval personnel. The Corporates include illustrious brands such as Genpact, Bharti Comtel Ltd., Evalueserve, HCL, Convergys, Global Vantedge, Innodata Isogen, Intouch Solutions, Barista, Purani Dilli Restaurants, Storm Restaurants, Kuoni Business Travel (India) Pvt.Ltd., and The Oberoi, New Delhi.
The prospective employers shall be looking for skill sets as varied as Software Engineering, System Administration, Finance&Accounts, Operations, Collection, Food&Beverage Management, Guest Experience and Customer Care Management, Travel Counseling, Technical Support, Retailing and HR.
