Kiran exhorts girls to be independent
Visakhapatnam, June 17 (UNI) Senior Director General of Home Guards and Director of Civil Defence, Kiran Bedi, IPS, today called for an attitudinal changes among the girls to prepare themselves for the challenges ahead and become successful.
Talking to newspersons here, she said the Home Guards should be trained in Disaster Management.
Speaking at the Capt Rama Rao Memorial Awards function to give award certificates to NSS Cadets, Ms Bedi said the secret of success was self-confidence. Education would be more meaningful, only if, girls were independent and took decisions on their own, she added.
Girls should take part in outdoor activities like games, where they were conspicuous by their absence, she said.
Ms Bedi underlined the importance of time management and wanted youth to take up a time audit to see how the day had been spent.
Instead of wasting time, youth sould give importance to character building, she added.
She said personality, character and richness of thought should shape one's approach to life.
She said the Indian Police like the Army, should safeguard the nation from its enemies, as the situation had gone from bad to worse in undemocratic countries.
Indian elections are the example of prevalence of democracy, she added.
