Five women among seven killed in road mishap

Kaithal, June 17 (UNI) Seven persons, including five women, were killed and more than twelve injured in a road accident near Pinjupura village in Kalayat tehsil of the district today.

The dead have been identified as Des Raj (45), Parsi Devi (50), Surjit Kaur (22), Gurnamo (50), Banto (50), Jagir Kaur (50), Jai Ram (60), police said.

The accident occurred when an oil tanker hit a canter carrying followers of Dera Sacha Sauda which was parked on the roadside. The canter was on its way from Sirsa to Naraingarh and had halted near Pinjupura village.

The canter fell in a ditch on being hit.

One person died on the spot while six others succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

Most of the injured were admitted to local civil hospital while those seriously injured were referred to the PGI, Chandigarh.
