CPI (ML) to contest alone in Panchayat poll

Hyderabad, June 17 (UNI) Communist Party of India (CPI ML- New Democracy) state leader D V Krishna today said the party would not have any truck with other parties in the panchayat elections in Andhra Pradesh to be held on June 28 and July 2.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Krishna said the party would contest alone in the elections and fight against the ruling Congress, CPI, CPM and TDP. The party would field its candidates in 259 Mandal Parishad Territorial Constitutencies (MPTCs) and 29 Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs) in 13 districts.

Alleging that the CPI (M) has worked out an alliance with the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the elections and left its ideology to winds, he said the people would teach a lesson to the CPM and CPI which had truck with the ruling Congress in the elections.

Stating that the party was committed to a united Andhra Pradesh, Mr Krishna said separate Telangana was not the solution to the problems of the people who were facing unemployment, irrigation and water problem.
