BMTC to buy 100 more Volvo buses

Bangalore, June 17 : Karnataka Transport Minister Cheluvarayaswamy today said the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation will soon buy 100 volvo buses for its operations.

Speaking to newsmen here he said the BMTC already plied 25 volvo buses and the response from the travelling public was very encouraging. The company was likely to despatch another 25 buses by August end, he revealed. In addition, the BMTC would purchase 100 more Volvo buses, he added.

He said the State Road Transport Corporation had built its own 45-seater similar to the Volvo with Air-conditioner and power steering and it cost only Rs 25 lakhs as against Rs 63 lakhs charged by the company. The KSRTC was also building express bus on the same lines with 63 seat capacity so that these two categories could be used for long distances, he added.

He also assured to increase number of trips to various destinations in the city during night within a week.
