Amritsar, Jun 17 (UNI) All India Jan Morcha leader and cinestar Raj Babbar has expressed deep concern over the deplorable condition of hockey in punjab, which at one time dominated the world.

Talking to reporters here today, Babbar, who was here to inaugurate 'Majha Youth Hockey Club' started by former International hockey players Prabhjot Singh, Harcharan Singh, Rajbir Kaur, Balbir Singh Randhawa to impart training to the budding players, said that there was a time when Indian team was represented by nine players from Punjab, but due to lack of infrastructure and government policies this sport is passing through bad period.

He asserted that government and big industrial houses should come forward to uplift and revive the old traditional game of hockey in this region so that country could again achieve its lost glory at the international level.

Senior hockey player Deepak Thakur, Parsaj Singh, Ramandeep Singh and Prabhjot Singh were also present on the occasion.
