New Delhi, June 16 (UNI) A day after stating that the UPA- Left Coordination Committee platform was not producing" any concrete results," the Left parties today said the mechanism was still relevant adding that they would also use the floor of Parliament to press for implementation of the CMP.

Identifying themselves with the "Aam Aadmi", the leaders of the CPI, CPI(M) and Forward Bloc, however cautioned the Manmohan Singh government against the latter's" growing alienation" from the man in the street in the wake of the steep hike in prices of essential commodities and fuel products and other" anti- people" economic, political and foreign policy decisions.

They also refused to share the blame for the Centre's failures on several counts, saying the "political cost" would have to be borne by the Congress alone.

On the relevance of the mechanism for better coordination and understanding, CPI Genenral Secretary A B Bardhan said," there is no other forum where the issues can be raised. We endeavour to influence the UPA leadership to take correct decisions in the interests of the people and the nation as a whole." Referring to the nine-page note on the government's two-year performance submitted at the UPA- Left Coordination Committee meeting at the PM's 7 Race Course Road residence yesterday, the veteran Communist said the government had agreed to discuss all those issues contained in it with individual ministers in the presence of the PM and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

The Left parties had said in the note ''The experience of the working of the Coordination Committee have generally not led to any satisfactory conclusion. The Left parties are concerned that the Coordination Committee becomes merely a forum, for talking only issues without producing results.''
