Undertrial escapes from Rajkot Rly Station

Rajkot, June 16 (UNI) An undertrial escaped from the Rajkot Railway Station late last night when he was being brought to Porbandar from Vapi.

According to the police, accused Rana alias Ramesh Kalsaria, who was in Porbandar Jail under Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (PASA), escaped from the railway station when the Saurashtra Express passengers train, coming from Mumbai, halted here at around 0100 hours.

The accused had requested two armed police constables, who were escorting him, that he wanted to attend the nature's call.

On his request, the constables allowed him to go when the accused jumped from the train and escaped under the cover of darkness, the sources said.

The accused was being taken to Vapi from Porbandar to be produced in a local court there.

A complaint has been registered to the railway police at Rajkot Railway Station by the constables, the sources said.
