Two acquitted of rape charge

Mumbai, June 16 (UNI) A local court today acquitted two persons arrested in connection with a rape case registered in Chembur area of the metropolis in 1990.

Additional Sessions Judge M S Keny acquitted Megdutt Datta and Jasu Laxmichand from the charges of rape, on benefit of doubt as the victim's statements and medical reports were found to be inconclusive.

The victim, a class seven student at the time of the incident, in her complaint had alleged that the duo had raped her while she was returning to her house on the fateful day.
