Tamil leaders hold demo on Lankan issue

Chennai, Jun 16 (UNI) Members of the Tamils Protection Movement (TPM), Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam, Dalit Panthers of India (DPI) and other associations and parties today staged a demonstration seeking Centre's intervention in the Sri Lanka to ensure atrocities against the Tamils in the island nation are stopped immediately.

Various speakers including TPM Founder P Nedumaran and DPI General Secretary Thol Thirumavalavan strongly condemned the 'Lankan Army attacks against the Tamils' and sought the Centre's help to ensure the safety and welfare of the Tamils in the island nation.

The Pattali Makkal Katchi, which was to participate in the agitation, opted out citing political reasons.
