Straight case of sexual assualt: Girija Vyas

Jaipur, June 16 (UNI) Strongly condemning the Rakhi Sawant-Mika kiss incident, National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Girija Vyas said it was a straight case of sexual assault and Mika needs to be given strict punishment.

Speaking to UNI over phone from Udaipur today, Ms Vyas said she has seen the TV footages of the incident and believed ''it to be ''straight case of sexual assault.'' ''An FIR and challan has been filed in the case and the matter is subjudice. The NCW has taken cognizance of the complain filed by Sawant and asked a report to be submitted within seven days,'' she said.

Ms Vyas said after taking into consideration all the reports, the NCW is of the opinion that Mika should be punished strictly.

Bollywood item girl Rakhi had e-mailed to the Commission yesterday, alleging that Punjabi pop singer Mika, whose birthday she attended on June 10, ''brutally assaulted her and forcibly smooched'' her.

In the complaint, Rakhi said Mika had ''insulted and sexually assaulted me publicy in front of the media''.

Rakhi has also registered a case against the singer alleging that ''Mika had bit her lips twice at his birthday party and his guards had also assaulted her friend, who tried to intervene''.

The singer was denied interim bail by a sessions court on Wednesday. He will have to appear before the court on June 17 for his bail plea hearing.
