Sonia Gandi to visit Rae Bareli on June 17

Lucknow, June 16: AICC president Sonia Gandhi would tour her parliamentary constituency of Rae Bareli for two days beginning tomorrow to thank the electorate for her victory in the May 11 bypoll.

Congress sources said here Ms Gandhi would carry out an extensive mass campaign (jan sampark) programme tomorrow in form of a 'road show'.

On Sunday, she would meet representatives of the five assembly segments, which form part of her Lok Sabha constituency. The very same day, the Congress chief would leave for the national capital.

This is her first tour of Rae Bareli after she won the LS bypoll by a record margin of over 4 lakh votes.

On March 23, she had stepped down as chairperson of National Advisory Council (NAC) and resigned as member of the LS following the office-of-profit controversy.

Ms Gandhi sought a re-election and returned to Lok Sabha.
