Rymbai rushes to 10 Janpath
Shillong, June 16 (UNI) A day after he was sworn in, Meghalaya Chief Minsister J Dringwell Rymbai arrive in New Delhi today to meet AICC president Sonia Gandhi to decide the names of his cabinet colleagues in the Congress led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance ministry.
Mr Rymbai accompanied by Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee president Onwardly Nongtdu and Congress legislator Charles Pyngrope told UNI that his sudden visit to 10 Janpath was mainly to get the consent of Ms Gandhi for the induction of nine more ministers in the cabinet.
''I have to get the clearance of Ms Gandhi to fill up the vacancy following the resignation of Mr DD Lapang'', Rymbai said.
The newly inducted Chief Minister said that he would also sought the approval of the AICC president to appoint a Chairman of some Committee with a status of Chief Minister.
The probables to be inducted in the Rymbai-led would consist of eight MLAs from the Congress and the president of Khun Hynniewtep National Awakening Movement and Jaiaw MLA Paul Lyngdoh. While the names of the Congress legislator include former Home Minister Robert Garnett Lyngdoh, former Meghalaya Assmebly Speaker and Health Minister Elstone D Marak, Tonsing N Marak, Manirul Islam Sarkar, Boldness Nongum, K K Dkhar, Prestone Tynsong and Shitlang Pale.
According to sources close to the Congress, the swearing in ceremony of the other nine ministers would take place soon after the Chief Minister's arrival.
Late last night, acting Meghalaya Governor Dr Shivinder Singh Sidhu admnistered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr JD Rymbai as the new state Chief Minister and Dr Donkupar Roy of the United Democratic Party and Martle N Mukhim of the Meghalaya Democratic Party as cabinet ministers.
Dr. Roy was later elevated to the rank of Deputy Chief Minister.
