Re-assembled budget session adjourned in Meghalaya

Shillong, June 16 (UNI) The re-assembled budget session of the Meghalaya assembly was today adjourned following the fluid prevailing political situation in the state.

Speaker Martin M Danggo told the house that the Business Advisory Committee which met yesterday had decided to re-schedule the present session to June 23 till the Congress led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government fill the vacancy.

MLA Manas Chadhuri (Ind), had, however, suggested to allocate one more day for the private members' business to discuss issues concerning the state.

Process T Sawkmie (MDP), who had supported the Independent MLA views, said more time should be allotted for general discussion on the state's budget especially with the newly formed ministry had opened its budget with a deficit of Rs. 130 crore.

Late last night, former Meghalaya Minister in-charge for parliamentary Affairs was sworn in as Chief Minister along with Dr.

Donkupar Roy (UDP) and Mr Martle N Mukhim (MDP) as cabinet ministers following the resignation of Mr DD Lapang.
