Rains occur in AP due to weak monsoon

Hyderabad, June 16(UNI)Isolated rain occurred over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema regions due to weak monsoon.

Talking to UNI Satya Kumar, Director of the Hyderabad Meterological office said there were sporadic raIns due to weak current.

He said the active phase of the monsoon was likely to commence from June 19, according to the present indications.

Dr Satya Kumar said presently rains are occuring only at a few places in Andhra Pradesh and when the monsoon gets active, the rains would be widespread. When the monsoon is weak, the situation is localised and only thunderstorms occur, he added.

Meanwhile an official release said the chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm yesterday were Kalwakurthy (Mahabubnagar dist) three, Cheepurupalli (Vizianagaram dist), Tekkali (Srikakulam dist) one each.

Maximum temperatures fell at one or two places and were above normal at a few places over Telangana. The highest maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius was recorded at Hanamakonda and Ramagundam.
