Prisoners in Punjab get one year remission in sentence
Tarn Taran, June 16 (UNI) The Punjab government has decided to grant one year special remission to prisoners convicted by the courts in the state.
''Prisoners who have been convicted by the courts of competent jurisdiction in the state and confined in the jails as on June 16, 2005, will get a special remission of one year in their jail sentence'', a offical release here today said.
Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh too made this announcement while addressing a religious congegration organised by the state government to mark the 400th martyrdom day of the fifth Sikh Guru, Arjan Dev here.
