PM lauds Guru Arjan Dev's contribution in compilation of Adi Granth

New Delhi, Jun 16 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today termed Guru Arjan Dev's ''singular contribution'' towards compilation of Adi Granth as an ''immense source of inspiration.'' ''The devotional hymns composed by Guru Arjan Dev are sung with utmost respect and devotion even today. He composed short hymns in simple language that could be easily understood by the masses,'' he said, in a message on the occasion of 400th anniversary of the martyrdom of the fifth Sikh Guru.

Dr Singh also recalled the inspiring words of the Guru Arjan Dev: ''Tera Kiya Mitha lage, naam padarath Nanak mange'' (whatever you ordain appears sweet. I supplicate for the gift of name).
