PCB turns down invitations to charity events during England tour
Lahore, June 16 (UNI) Pakistan has turned down invitations for charity fund raisers during their tour of England, saying that all possible slots for such appearences have already been filled.
''The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recieved a number of requests by humanitarian organisations. The PCB would like to thank them for their invitations but there is no possibility of the team making additional commitments, however worthy the cause,'' PCB Director Operations Abbas Zaidi said in a release here.
Citing the ICC regulation, which does not allow the visiting teams to accept invitations for receptions while being on tour, the PCB said it had collected enough funds for last year's earthquake victims and would not participate in any event to raise funds for that as well.
''The Board has already helped generate a significant contribution towards Earthquake relief amounting to around Rs 300 million which includes personal contributions by the Pakistan Team and special fund-raising one-day-internationals,'' the PCB statement said.
