Nagpur bench stays disqualification of senior BJP leader
Akola, June 16 (UNI) The Nagpur bench of Mumbai High Court has stayed the disqualification of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Corporator Ganesh Dhage of Akola Municipal Corporation (AMC).
Passing the order yesterday noon, Justice Bhushan Gawai had also stayed the election programme for electing the corporator from Prabhag no 22 following the disqualification of the corporator, the official sources said.
AMC commissioner Chandrashekhar Rokde had disqualified Mr Dhage for carrying out illegal construction activity by flouting the correct law position.
The AMC Commissioner had referred the matter of disqualification of the corporator to the civil judge as per the provisions in the Mumbai Provincial Municipal Corporation Act.
Then, Mr Dhage moved the civil court which had asked the commissioner that the disqualification of corporator be decided later, till then he would remain as corporator.
