Monsoon evades UP, sultry weather prevails
Lucknow, June 16 (UNI) With the monsoon still not in sight, there seems no imminent relief to the people from the sultry and hot weather in Uttar Pradesh.
''There is no possibility of rains in the next 3-4 days. In fact, the temperature might increase further,'' state meteorological director R K Verma told UNI here.
UP had received a decent amount of pre-monsoon showers about a week back. However, the system became weak giving rise to the present dry spell.
Meanwhile, in the last 24 hrs, mercury rose in all the divisions of the state.
Varanasi, Allahabad and Kanpur recorded the maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius, which was 1-3 degrees above normal.
Lucknow recorded the mercury at 39 degrees, which was one degree above yesterday's level.
Rainfall/thundershowers are forecast at a few places in UP in the next 24 hrs. Rest of the places would remain dry.
