Molestation of women now a non-bailable offence in Maharashtra
Mumbai, June 16 (UNI) Maharashtra government has issued an order stating molestation of women would be a cognizable and non- bailable offence hence forth.
An official release said here today there was a rise in the number of molestation cases and in order to control the same, the government had brought about the amendment.
The release further said such a case would be immediately inquired by the judiciary.
If the charge of molestation is proved, the person would be punished for 15 days imprisonment along with penalty. And if the same person is found guilty of molestation for the second time, his imprisonment term would be doubled, the release added.
