MNS workers, Narayan Rane supporters clash; 1 injured
Mumbai, June 16 (UNI) Activists of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and the supporters of Revenue Minister Narayan Rane clashed yesterday over the tearing down of a banner wishing birthday greetings to MNS chief Raj Thackeray at Subhash Nagar in North East Mumbai, police said today.
The clash broke out at about 2150 hrs after the MNS workers lodged a complaint against Mr Rane's supporters, alleging that they had torn down a banner wishing birthday greetings to Mr Thackeray.
After they learnt about the complaint, angry supporters of Mr Rane lodged a counter-complaint. They later took to streets and allegedly started pelting stones at the complainant and MNS activist Sashank Dinkar Khillari (23), injuring a 13-year-old boy.
A few parked vehicles, some slums in the locality and a communication centre were also damaged.
A riot case has been registered by the Chembur police station against around 25 people and investigations were on, police added.
