Man gets life term for killing daughters
Dehra Dun, June 16 (UNI) A District Sessions court today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his two minor daughters.
Taradutt, a resident of Dwarahaat, Almorah was found guilty of brutally killing his two daughters Rajani (6) and Lalita (4) with 'gandasa' (a sharp knife) at school premises in front of other school children on January 31, 2005. Taradutt was arrested the same day and reported to have admitted his crime. Public prosecutor advocate Diwan Singh presented the mother of the slained children Janaki, School Principal Dayadhar Pathak, student Gayatri, Medico Dr P S Kholia and Patwari Puran Singh Bisht as witnesses in the court of Almorah District Session judge P K Agarwal.
Calling the act gruesome, the judge sentenced Taradutt to life inprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000. Two years extra imprisonment was announced if he fails to deposit the amount.
