I am ready to take on challenges in Bihar: Governor
New Delhi, June 16 : Bihar Governor R S Gavai today said he was ready to take up his new assignment ''which is full of challenges.
Talking to UNI from Amaravati in Maharashtra, Mr Gavai said Bihar was the land of Gautam Buddha and ''karmabhoomi'' of first President Rajendra Prasad and leaders like Jai Prakash Narayan who spread the message of peace, prosperity and brotherhood.
Mr Gavai said before assuming office in Patna, he would meet President A P J Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on June 19 here.
Mr Gavai, the Republican Party of India (Gavai) President, had been a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2000 till April 12. Earlier, he had been a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council from 1964 to 1994. He also held the post of Chairman and Deputy Chairman in the Legislative Council.
