Huge deposits of gold found in Banswara
Jaipur, June 16 (UNI) The Geological Survey of India (GSI) has hit upon huge deposits of gold in the state's Banswara district.
Addressing the state geological programming board, the GSI's deputy director general (western region) informed yesterday that many companies are coming forward with suggestions for mining in Banswara region.
Dr Ashok Singhvi, secretary, Mines and Petroleum Board said the state has huge reserves of lignite which can help set up 2,500 MW power stations.
He said the state has earned Rs 8.85 crore revenue in the year 2005-06. He said the state has 61 different minerals and a complete geological database will be created soon. The state would soon unveil the new Mining policy, he added.
