HC summons officials regarding use of red/blue beacon, sirens

Lucknow, June 16 (UNI) The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court today summoned state's Principal Secretary (Home), IG (Traffic) and Secretary (Transport) regarding the increasing use of red/blue beacons, tinted screens and sirens on vehicles.

A vacation bench, comprising Justices Devi Prasad Singh and S N Shukla, directed the three officials to appear before the court on June 19.

They have been asked to inform the court under what provisions such gadgets were being used.

The order was passed on a PIL filed by Durgesh Awasthi, who alleged red/blue beacons, tinted screens and sirens were being used illegally.
