Kochi, June 16 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today ordered a DNA test on a Fiji woman who moved the court seeking its intervention to find out her relatives in Kerala.

Mr Justice C N Ramachandran Nair directed the bio-technology laboratory at Thiruvananthapuram to conduct the test without delay.

The court issued the directive on a petition filed by the Fiji woman, Ellis Barbara Brewer, and her husband Joe Nathan.

The petitioner's father Joseph was a Keralite, who had moved to Fiji and married a local woman, Mariam. He died 60 years ago without leaving any details about his family roots back home in Kerala.

Petitioner Barbara found an immigration pass in her father's papers, issued on January 27, 1913, in which his address was given as Kannathuparambu Joseph, son of Vareeth, Kaduvara, Kochi.

Ms Barbara came to Kerala in search of her paternal relatives and her search led her to the Munnanad family, Kizhakepeedika.

The petitioner suspected that the two surviving members of the Munnanad family, Jose and Thresiakutty, were her father's brother's son and sister's daughter respectively.
