Flights diverted owing to storm

Kolkata, Jun 16 (UNI) The evening squall that hit the city and the surrounding areas led to the diversion of a Jet Air flight coming from Mumbai to Kolkata.

According to the Air Traffic Control at NSCBI airport the flight, which almost reached Kolkata, had to be diverted to Nagpur because of high velocity winds.

Another aircraft belonging to Yemen heading towards Dhaka landed at Kolkata because of bad weather in the Bangladesh capital. The aircraft later flew back to Dhaka.

The Met office at the airport said the squall, with a wind speed of 32 knots and above, hit the airport for about a minute.
